4101 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: Does the Minister agree with the mother of the three-year-old who was accidentally strangled by a corded blind that "if mandatory safety regulations had been in place, [their child] would still be with [them] today"?
Hon Scott Simpson: I acknowledge the mother’s profound loss and the deeply personal view she has expressed. However, it would not be appropriate for me to speculate if any individual tragedy would have been prevented had mandatory regulations been in place.
