4075 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: How much, if any, does each of the Minister’s Departments, Ministries, and Agencies plan to spend to achieve a 6.5% reduction in headcount as at 25 March?

Hon Nicola Willis: Neither the Treasury nor the RBNZ have been asked to achieve 6.5% reduction in headcount. In the case of the Treasury, they along with other agencies have been asked to identify savings proposals comprising 6.5% of its eligible base. The RBNZ has not been asked to identify savings as part of this exercise due to its unique funding arrangements. The RBNZ funding levels are determined through a five year funding agreement . The approach to the next agreement is the subject of discussion between the RBNZ and the Minister of Finance with no final decisions having been made. I am advised that Treasury is not planning to incur additional costs to achieve its savings proposals.
