4050 (2026). Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What criteria, if any, were used to decide which of the more than 110 standards would be adopted between Australia and New Zealand in the February 2026 announcement, and did corded blind safety not meet those criteria or were they not considered at all?
Hon Scott Simpson: The February 2026 announcement reflects outcomes from the Trans-Tasman Standards Alignment Programme, which applied different criteria depending on the type of standards involved. Standards were included where there was demonstrated New Zealand regulator or industry support, alignment with competition and trade objectives, and a clear case for adoption following technical committee review and public consultation. Corded blind safety standards were not among the standards identified or assessed for adoption through these Programme processes.
