4041 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: What additional regulatory or oversight powers, if any, has Taumata Arowai requested from the Minister in regards to drinking water services?

Hon Simon Watts: As part of the legislative process for the Local Government (Water Services) Act 2025 (the Act) the Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai provided the Minister of Local Government with a suite of documents with advice on the options for changes to legislative functions with additional powers to investigate and intervene, which was subsequently considered through the legislative process.
