4039 (2026). Lan Pham to the Minister of Local Government: What correspondence, if any, has the Minister received from Taumata Arowai in regard to the wastewater bypasses/overflows and subsequent contamination of beach water quality in Auckland this summer (2025-2026)?

Hon Simon Watts: The Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai has provided me with advice about overflows/bypasses in Auckland in the correspondence below. It has not provided me with specific advice regarding contamination of beach water quality in Auckland during the 2025-2026 summer. • Aide memoire: Response to wastewater overflows in the Mahurangi Harbour (29 November 2025) • Email clarification regarding Watercare’s network discharge consent conditions in relation to bypasses and overflows, and the actions that the Water Services Authority—Taumata Arowai is taking to fulfil our oversight role in this case (29 January 2026) • Strengthening regulation of water services infrastructure (22 July 2025)
