4035 (2026). Ingrid Leary to the Minister for Mental Health: Are there any specific support services in Health New Zealand for people diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; if not, are there any plans to introduce any?
Hon Matt Doocey: I am advised that ADHD may be assessed and managed through several local services and pathways. I am further advised that since 1 February 2026, vocationally registered specialist general practitioners and nurse practitioners (within scope) can initiate treatment with stimulant medications for ADHD, and nurse practitioners in paediatric or mental health services are able to initiate treatment with stimulant medication for children and adolescents.
