4012 (2026). Hon Dr Megan Woods to the Minister for Energy: What due-diligence checks, if any, have been undertaken on shortlisted proponents for an LNG import facility?

Hon Simon Watts: To enter the procurement process, respondents had to provide information on their LNG project experience, ability to operate in New Zealand, compliance with the NZ supplier code of conduct and whether they are subject to any trade sanctions. This was verified by MBIE experts and MBIE's client engineer.
