3938 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Will the Minister implement any new policies to pay nurses’ and midwives’ student loan repayments?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that Health New Zealand have actions underway to grow and retain nurses and midwives. I refer the Member to Health New Zealand’s Health Workforce Implementation Plan which outlines several actions aimed at improving the transition, development and distribution of new graduate nurses, as well as strengthening pathways into midwifery: https://www.tewhatuora.govt.nz/publications/health-workforce-implementation-plan.
