3908 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Immigration: Does Immigration NZ work with Education NZ and/or NZ Immigration Advisers Authority to ensure that data from 'Offshore student visa application decisions' is used to review things like quality assurance; such as education agencies with low visa approval ratings?
Hon Erica Stanford: Immigration New Zealand publishes the approval rates of offshore education agents submitting international student visa applications. Education agents are exempt from the requirement to be licensed if they are outside of New Zealand and providing immigration advice on student visas only. This information is primarily used by New Zealand education providers as part of their due diligence when forming or continuing relationships with agents for the recruitment of international students.
