3883 (2024). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: What quantities of Class C drugs, if any, have been seized by the New Zealand Customs Service since Hon Casey Costello became Minister, broken down by Customs Port, month, drug type, drug quantity and street value?
Hon Casey Costello: I refer the Member to the attached table which provides a breakdown of the quantities of Class C drugs seized by the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) between 27 November 2023 and 31 December 2023, broken down by port of entry, month, drug type, drug quantity, and street value (where available). Street values are based on Illicit Drug Pricing, supplied from the National Drug Intelligence Bureau (as of December 2023). I am unable to provide the quantity of drugs seized between 1 January 2024 and 26 March 2024 as Customs requires a three-month delay when reporting drug seizure statistics to protect operational security and time sensitive investigative activities. I also refer the Member to Customs’ publicly released statistics on the Customs website which provides timely updates on the type, quantity and location of illicit drugs seized and non-drug goods interceptions. These statistics can be accessed using the following website links: Drug seizures: https://www.customs.govt.nz/about-us/statistics/drug-interceptions/drug-seizures/ Non-drug goods intercepted: https://www.customs.govt.nz/about-us/statistics/non-drug-interceptions/goods-intercepted/
