3868 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Transport: In what circumstances would it be appropriate to charge for replying to Official Information Act requests made to their office, or agencies for which the Minister is responsible?

Hon Chris Bishop: Guidance on when and how agencies may charge for responding to Official Information Act (OIA) requests is set out in the Ministry of Justice’s OIA Charging Guidelines and the Office of the Ombudsman’s guide ‘Charging: A guide to charging for official information under the OIA and LGOIMA’. Both documents are publicly available on their respective websites.
