3829 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (October to December 2023) to ‘Implement routine monitoring of workforce needs assessment across the cancer continuum’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Te Aho o Te Kahu — Cancer Control Agency and Health New Zealand are collaborating to ensure the health system’s workforce needs to deliver sustainable, high-quality cancer services are planned for and met through the Health Workforce Plan 2024/25 and subsequent workforce plans. Cancer Control Agency works closely with Health New Zealand to inform workforce decisions. Current work includes supply and demand modelling for cancer nursing workforce.
