Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (October to December 2023) to ‘Lead efforts to inform cancer research priorities that will support the outcomes of the plan’ under Outcome 1: New Zealanders have a system that delivers consistent and modern cancer care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: The strategic direction and work programme of Te Aho o Te Kahu — Cancer Control Agency is underpinned by the values of being equity-led, knowledge-driven, outcomes-focused and person- and whānau-centred. With focus on evidence-informed approaches to address issues and improvements across the cancer system, utilising and initiating cancer research is an important factor in decisions that deliver the work of Te Aho o Te Kahu and inform the sector, with this work being continuous and ongoing.
