Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (October to December 2023) to ‘Develop a cancer leadership and governance framework and a cancer health workforce that actively address all forms of racism and discrimination’ under Outcome 2: New Zealanders experience equitable cancer outcomes, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that this action has been completed. The Cancer Control Agency | Te Aho o Te Kahu (CCA) was established in 2019 as a response to the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan’s call for development of a cancer leadership framework that covered the nation. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora work closely with CCA to coordinate activities, including the development of a national Cancer Clinical Network and the priorities in the NZ Health Plan. I am further advised that CCA and Health NZ share a clear focus on eliminating inequalities in cancer outcomes, including prevention, detection, diagnosis and treatment.
