Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What progress has been made in the last quarter (October to December 2023) to ‘Develop programmes to increase public awareness of possible signs and symptoms of cancer’ under Outcome 4: New Zealanders have better cancer survival, supportive care and end-of-life care, as part of the New Zealand Cancer Action Plan 2019 – 2029?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that in the October to December 2023 quarter, the National Cervical Screening Programme created new print and digital resources to educate the public about cervical screening and participant choice. The resources aim to increase public awareness about cervical screening and the prevention of cervical cancer. I am also advised that in the October to December quarter, information and collateral was updated on the website www.timetoscreen.nz, which contains resources to help people make an informed decision on screening pathways in relation to the signs and symptoms of breast, bowel, and cervical cancers.
