3785 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What are the total costs of staff redundancies, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies - or for any other staff for whom the Minister is responsible - between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025?

Hon Simeon Brown: Corrected reply: On 13 February, Health New Zealand advised that it could not provide the requested information within the timeframe of a Written Parliamentary Question, as I stated in my initial reply. On 20 February, Health New Zealand changed this advice. I am advised by the Ministry of Health that the total cost of redundancies was $4,277,079.71. I am further advised by Health New Zealand that the total cost of redundancies was $32,965,332.80. Our Government is focused on delivering timely, quality healthcare for all New Zealanders. This requires finding efficiencies within our health agencies to ensure a tight focus on the delivery of frontline care.
