3764 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: How many evictions, if any, did Kāinga Ora make in each month since January 2020?
Hon Tama Potaka: As Associate Minister of Housing (Social Housing), Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that since January 2020 it has recorded eight evictions: one in January 2023, two in March 2023, one in June 2023, one in September 2023, one in October 2023, and two in December 2023. An eviction is a specific process involving the Tenancy Tribunal and District Court which happens if a person refuses to leave the property after a tenancy has ended. Evictions can also take place where required to remove individuals who are occupying a property illegally.
