3746 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What vacant roles are proposed for disestablishment within the Ministry of Health as part of the 25% cut proposal?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that, as at 26 March 2024, the Ministry of Health (the Ministry) had not yet finalised a change proposal or initiated a change process with its staff. The number of roles proposed to be affected is still being identified. Once finalised, the Ministry will share this information with staff first, as part of its consultation process with its employees. The timing of subsequent decisions and the communication of those decisions to Ministry employees will be confirmed after the completion of an appropriate consultation period. The contribution that any staff reductions could make to the Ministry's internal budget savings requirement (and associated work programme) will not be confirmed until after consultation has been held with Ministry employees and final decisions are made.
