3732 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Prime Minister: How many staff were made redundant, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025, broken down by district, ethnicity, gender, and any other socioeconomic variable that is collected?

Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: In my capacity as the Prime Minister, I am the Responsible Minister for the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC). The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is a departmental agency hosted by DPMC. I advise that two DPMC staff members were made redundant within the specified timeframe. Due to privacy reasons details of the redundancies including associated costs cannot be disclosed. DPMC and NEMA’s payment amounts are consistent with contractual obligations.
