3713 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Housing: Are there any parts of the Sustaining Tenancies Framework that the Minister supports, and if so, which parts?

Hon Chris Bishop: I agree with the objective of supporting stable and sustainable long term housing for tenants. However, the Sustaining Tenancies Framework, as implemented by Kāinga Ora, has proven ineffective at delivering Kāinga Ora's wider responsibilities of managing disruptive tenants and protecting neighbours. That is why the Government has instructed Kāinga Ora to end the Sustaining Tenancies Framework and take stronger measures against persistent antisocial behaviour by tenants.
