3677 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Internal Affairs: How many staff were made redundant, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025, listed by role title, date of redundancy, type of employment, and duration of service?
Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised by the Department of Internal Affairs (the Department) that between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025, 50 employees have left the Department due to being made redundant. All of these were permanent employees. Their length of service with the Department ranged from 1.3 years to 35.5 years. Of these 50 employees, 25 had less than five years’ service, 11 had more than five but less than 10 years’ service, and 14 had more than 10 years’ service. Of these, 37 employees were made redundant as part of the baseline reduction programme where roles generally ended in July/August 2024 and seven from the Fiscal Sustainability programme Phase 1 change process where roles ended in February 2025. The remaining six were made redundant due to other change processes throughout this time period. I refer the member to Appendix A which provides a list of the job titles of those made redundant.
