3652 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Immigration: From 01 January 2023 to 21 March 2024, how many investigations of complaints of migrant exploitation, if any, are ongoing and have reached a hearing?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that nine employers have been taken to court and charged with offences under section 351 of the Immigration Act 2009 for the exploitation of unlawful employees and temporary workers, with these cases still open and yet to be heard by a court. Other investigations may be undertaken by the Labour Inspectorate. The responsible Minister is the Honourable Brooke van Velden for Workplace Relations and Safety.
