3650 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Finance: What are the total costs of staff redundancies, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies - or for any other staff for whom the Minister is responsible - between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025?

Hon Nicola Willis: Between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025, the Treasury made five (5) permanent employees redundant. Total costs of redundancies in this period was $129,700.15. The RBNZ has not been asked to identify savings resulting from the Government’s directive to reduce expenditure in the public service due to its unique funding arrangements. RBNZ funding levels are determined through a five-year funding agreement. The approach to the next agreement is the subject of discussion between RBNZ and the Minister of Finance with no final decisions having been made.
