3644 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Education: What are the total costs of staff redundancies, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies - or for any other staff for whom the Minister is responsible - between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the total cost of redundancies between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025 was $15,166,755. I am advised by the Education Review Office that one member of staff was made redundant between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025. Given the small number, it is not in the public interest for any further information to be disclosed as it would breach the privacy of this individual. I am advised by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority that the total cost of redundancies between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025 was $1,017,567.43.
