Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Customs: How many staff were made redundant, if any, in the Minister’s departments, ministries and agencies between 27 November 2023 and 7 February 2025, broken down by district, ethnicity, gender, and any other socioeconomic variable that is collected?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that between 27 November 2023 to 7 February 2025, 57 staff at the New Zealand Customs Service (Customs) were made redundant. I refer the member to the attached tables which provide a breakdown of numbers of Customs staff made redundant by; location (Table 1), staff identifying with an ethnicity (Table 2) and gender (Table 3). Customs does not collect socioeconomic information about staff.
