Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Finance: As of 21 March 2024, what correspondence, if any, including letters, emails, text messages, whatsapp, signal, or any other form of electronic communication about the proposed cuts to staff at the Ministry of Primary Industries, did the Minister or any member of their Office send to the Minister of Agriculture or any member of their Office, by subject and date?

Hon Nicola Willis: I have asked all agencies to identify savings proposals comprising 6.5% or 7.5.% of their eligible base. MPI was included in this request. As outlined in written question 3571 (2024), final Budget decisions are subject to Cabinet agreement. Any correspondence I have received related to this is part of the Budget process, and remains Budget sensitive until after the Budget is delivered.
