3565 (2026). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Minister of Education: What “long-standing concerns”, if any, did the Minister and/or her Office receive related to data privacy from standardised testing, and how, if at all, is the Government addressing these concerns with the new report framework?
Hon Erica Stanford: I have been advised of concerns pertaining to data access and for what system-level purposes data will be used. Data privacy is assessed as part of the work underway on assessment and aromatawai aligned to the Government’s Data Protection and Use Policy, and within existing data protection policies. The new reporting expectations do not include the collection or sharing of data with the Ministry of Education. The data is stored in New Zealand with a backup in Australia.
