3527 (2026). Tangi Utikere to the Minister of Health: What steps have been taken by MidCentral, if any, to address 48.5% achieved towards the Health Target “95% of patients to be admitted, discharged or transferred from an emergency department within 6 hours “ during July to September 2025?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that MidCentral has implemented a range of actions to improve performance against the six hour emergency department health target. These actions include increasing nursing staff in the emergency department; progressing recruitment of additional senior medical and registrar positions, and expanding ED physical capacity to support improved flow for lower and moderate acuity patients.
