3517 (2026). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: What projections, if any, has she seen on the cost of running and maintaining the new SMART progress monitoring tool?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the total cost for licencing, support and maintenance of the Student Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting Tool from 2025/26 to 2028/29 is $85.6 million. This will provide an assessment tool capable of delivering data insights to an estimated 540,000 students and teachers across Years 3 to 10. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 3518 (2025).
