3423 (2024). Hon Rachel Brooking to the Associate Minister for the Environment: What action, if any, would the Minister take if a council imposed a new Significant Natural Area under the National Policy Statement on Indigenous Biodiversity?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: At present the requirement for identifying new significant natural areas under the National Policy Statement for Indigenous Biodiversity remains in place. Councils are required to assess their districts and identify areas that qualify as significant natural areas by August 2028.
