3413 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: What further support, if any, will the Government extend to Kāinga Ora tenants at risk of eviction to no longer be at risk of eviction?
Hon Tama Potaka: As Associate Minister of Housing (Social Housing), Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it works closely with its tenants to prevent incidents of disruptive behaviour occurring through pre-housing conversations to ensure best match to a property and neighbourhood, provide support to settle into their home and transition to the neighbourhood, identify specific customer needs that might require service support referrals, and to clarify tenant obligations and expectations. Kāinga Ora also uses the tools outlined in the Residential Tenancies Act to prompt the customer to change behaviour, such as s55A warning notices and s53B relocation notices as well as where necessary seeking to end tenancies at the Tribunal.
