3408 (2024). Tamatha Paul to the Associate Minister of Housing: Does the Minister agree with the Prime Minister that 'community housing with wraparound and pastoral care is a good option for unruly tenants', and if so, why does Kāinga Ora not provide adequate wraparound and pastoral care?

Hon Tama Potaka: As Associate Minister of Housing (Social Housing), Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities advises me that it is not able to fund social services itself or provide them. Instead, Kāinga Ora operates a referral model by which tenants and their whānau are supported to connect with appropriate support services with the expertise to help them. It does this through close working relationships with a wide range of agencies, including the Ministry of Health, Te Whatu Ora, Ministry of Social Development, New Zealand Police, and Department for Corrections, at a local and national level.
