3406 (2026). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Energy: How much, if any, have the Minister’s departments, agencies, crown entities and any other bodies that the Minister is responsible for, if any, budgeted for the carbon neutral government programme for the 2026 calendar year?

Hon Simon Watts: EA: As an Independent Crown Entity, the Electricity Authority is not mandated under the Carbon Neutral Government Programme. The Authority does measure and report on its greenhouse gas emissions via its Annual Report: https://www.ea.govt.nz/documents/8633/Annual_Report_202425.pdf EECA: "EECA has budgeted $4,655,000 for 2026 in grant funding related expenditure for existing contractual arrangements under Carbon Neutral Government Programme (M037). There is no budget for new activity. EECA also budgeted $5,500 for the 2026 calendar year to comply with the Carbon Neutral Government Programme as an organisation."
