Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Regulation: How will, if at all, will the agricultural and horticultural products regulatory review process speed up the approval of methane-reducing technologies in New Zealand, and what, if any, specific steps are being considered to accelerate the approval process for methane inhibitors?

Hon David Seymour: I can confirm that the Ministry for Regulation considered whether the current approval path through the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 and Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 maintains an appropriate balance between access to products, including methane-reducing technologies, and managing risk. Their findings will be released after they have been considered by Ministers.
