3334 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to grow our rural generalist pathways for post-graduate students by scaling and extending rural interdisciplinary training programmes?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that Health New Zealand is currently scoping how best to grow post-graduate rural generalist pathways for professions most common in rural settings. Between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand collected data to identify inter-professional education (IPE) programme participants who had gone to work in rural settings. This information will inform potential expansion and coordination of the IPE pathway.
