Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister of Education: How many initial teacher education places did Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland receive School Onsite Training Programme funding for in each of their primary, secondary and Māori medium primary school programmes, listed by each year funding was recevied for?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised by the Ministry of Education that the University of Auckland received School Onsite Training Programme (SOPT) funding for 29 initial teacher education places in 2023. This included 25 secondary places and four composite places. In 2024 they received 47 places, including 45 secondary places and two composite places. In 2025, they received 52 places, including 18 primary places, 29 secondary places and five composite places. In 2026, they received 46 places, including 19 primary places and 27 secondary places. All initial teacher education providers applied for SOPT places according to their capacity.
