3207 (2026). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister for Workplace Relations and Safety: How, if at all, will the Minister ensure that increased emphasis on guidance and alternative enforcement responses does not lead to weaker protections for workers, particularly vulnerable or precarious workers?

Hon Brooke van Velden: My expectations of improvements to WorkSafe’s guidance will ensure both businesses and workers are clear on how they need to meet health and safety duties, particularly in sectors with significant critical risks. Where appropriate, WorkSafe will still take enforcement action, including alternative enforcement responses, when these obligations are not met.
