3126 (2026). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Economic Growth: Did the Minister or the MBIE leadership team receive any advice or communications regarding disestablishing the Just Transitions team within the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment in relation to the Ministerial Inquiry into Land Use in Tairāwhiti/Gisborne and Wairoa; if so, what was the general nature of this advice or communication?
Hon Nicola Willis: Neither I nor the MBIE leadership team have received any advice or communications regarding the Ministerial Inquiry into Land Use in Tairāwhiti/Gisborne and Wairoa in relation to the disestablishment of the Just Transitions team. I would note for the Member that the Ministerial Inquiry into Land Use in Tairāwhiti/Gisborne and Wairoa was a region driven initiative independent from MBIE, initiated by the previous Ministers for the Environment and Forestry who appointed a panel consisting of by Hon Hekia Parata, Bill Bayfield, and Matthew McCloy. The Panel specifically focussed on the environmental, social, and economic impacts of woody debris (forestry slash) and sediment.
