3126 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: What steps will the Minister take, if any, to ensure that changes made in the Gangs Legislation Amendment Bill will be consistent with Te Tiriti o Waitangi?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: Māori, like all New Zealanders, have a strong interest in policies aimed at addressing gang offending and victimisation. Māori are more likely to be the victims of gang-related harm and combatting this is therefore part of the Crown’s responsibility to actively protect Māori.
