3052 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: Will Te Whatu Ora publish findings from any reviews or debriefs into hospital IT outages occurring in 2026, and if not, why not?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that IT outage incident reviews are not intended for publication. They contain free and frank advice to internal oversight groups, and making information public about potential network risks could be useful to cyber criminals. Incident reviews are intended to ensure effective management of risk and improve internal processes. They are shared with relevant teams for their input and feedback; and as applicable copies are made available to Auditors and sub-committees of the Board.
