2994 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Transport: What is the alternative route proposed that NZTA has endorsed for the Mangatai Access Bridge on Te Kowhai Road, and what, if any, is the timeline for its development?

Hon Chris Bishop: The Gisborne District Council has explored an alternative in land route which negates the requirements for a bridge, creates a long-term more resilient route and mitigates other transport risks on Te Kowhia Road. The timeline for development will be determined by the Council. I refer the member to the attached map setting out the alternate route endorsed by the NZ Transport Agency.
