2985 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: How many, if any, hatcheries are currently operating in New Zealand, that have the capacity to support the repopulation of poultry populations in the event of an outbreak such as H5N1?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised that there are nine commercial hatcheries operating in New Zealand that support New Zealand’s poultry industry, including producing surplus hatchlings and day-old chicks for export offshore.
