2981 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What proportion, if any, of New Zealand poultry farmers, including egg farmers, have had direct, in-person communication with an MPI official regarding responsiveness plans in the event of a potential H5N1 incursion?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: I am advised the Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) engages directly with the poultry industry through the Egg Producers Federation (EPF) and Poultry Industry Association New Zealand (PIANZ), who represent poultry farmers in New Zealand. MPI also engages directly with farmers through working groups and workshops to develop guidance around enhancing on farm biosecurity and response plans for a potential H5N1 incursion.
