2978 (2025). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister for Biosecurity: What treatment options, if any, are available, or being considered for approval through the ACVM, for managing Fall Armyworm in New Zealand?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) advises that one registered trade name product (Sparta, containing 120 grams spinetoram per litre) has been approved under the Agricultural Compounds and Veterinary Medicines Act 1997 (ACVM Act) for Fall Armyworm control since December 2022. I am advised that MPI has not received any other applications for authorisation of products for Fall Armyworm control. However, under the ACVM Act, other registered products containing different active ingredients may be used off-label for the control of Fall Armyworm, provided all registration conditions and other legislative controls are complied with.
