2950 (2025). Arena Williams to the Minister for Rail: How many DL class locomotives, if any, does KiwiRail currently have in New Zealand as of 1 January 2025, and how many, if any, are not in operational condition?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: KiwiRail has 73 DL class locomotives in its fleet. 58 of these are currently in service. There are 15 DLs currently out of service which only require wheel replacements and minor maintenance to return to operational duty.
