Written Question

2911 (2024). Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How many, if any, role vacancies are there at Oranga Tamariki, by core and support, Full-Time Equivalency, job title, geographic area, length of time that the vacancy has been unfilled, if a recruitment process is in place or if the vacancy is on hold?
Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that, as of 13 March 2024, Oranga Tamariki was actively recruiting for 240 permanent and fixed-term positions. I have attached a table with these positions broken down by title, region and the length of time since the job listing was opened.
Oranga Tamariki has recently implemented a hiring freeze as part of preparing for organisational change and in line with government expectations around financial sustainability. They are continuing their focus on targeted recruitment for core Children’s Worker roles to build capacity and experience in the frontline. The roles that will continue to be recruited are Social Workers, Social Work Supervisors, Family Group Conference Coordinators, Residential Youth Workers, Residence Managers, and Site Managers (or equivalent operational frontline managers). Recruitment for other roles is currently on hold unless agreed by the Leadership Team.
