Hon Willow-Jean Prime to the Minister for Children: How many core (Children's Workers) and support staff were employed at Oranga Tamariki as of 1 December 2023, by Full-Time Equivalency, job title, geographic area of work, length of tenure, and provided both as an absolute number and a percentage of the entire workforce as of 1 December 2023?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that Oranga Tamariki employed 4,884 full-time equivalent staff in permanent and fixed-term roles as at 30 November 2023. Of those, 3,494 were in Children’s Worker roles, with the remaining 1,390 full-time equivalents employed in support roles. A breakdown of staff employed in Children’s Worker roles was provided in my answer to WPQ 2399 (2024). The attached table provides the numbers of full-time equivalent staff in support roles by title and length of service. I am advised that that including the regional breakdown for support roles could potentially identify individual staff members, therefore this information has not been provided.
