2900 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to review the approach to Te Whatu Ora's Voluntary Bonding Scheme to maximise impact?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand began the technical work required to expand the Voluntary Bonding Scheme for 2024, which opened for applications this month. The Voluntary Bonding Scheme now includes (among others) all new graduate midwives; it has a new category for new and recent graduate pharmacists working in regional public sector hospitals and rural and regional community settings; a new category for new graduate anaesthetic technicians working in public sector hospitals; offers more places for rural and regional general practice trainees, and now includes Māori and Pacific general practice trainees nationwide.
