2898 (2025). Hon Phil Twyford to the Minister of Immigration: How many FTEs, if any, are currently working on monitoring how many digital nomads have arrived in New Zealand since changes to the visitor visa were announced?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am advised that the changes made on 27 January 2025 to the visa conditions for NZeTA and visitor visas which allow visitor visa holders to work remotely for an overseas-based employer or client have been granted automatically to all NZeTA and visitor visa applicants from the date the changes were announced. Applicants whose visas have been granted with the conditions allowing remote work while in New Zealand are not obligated to inform Immigration New Zealand of their employment and therefore this information is not recorded.
