2875 (2024). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: What actions, if any, have been taken in the last quarter to ensure Te Whatu Ora staff working at all times of the day can access the sustenance they need while working?
Hon Dr Shane Reti: I am advised that between October and December 2023, Health New Zealand continued developing its approach to addressing fatigue in the workplace. Health New Zealand commenced an action plan to manage and minimise workforce fatigue. The plan includes ensuring there are accessible and nutritious food options for night workers; providing supportive transport options for fatigued workers, and providing supportive systems for napping, which is an evidence-based way of reducing fatigue for night workers. Guidelines and communications on safe travel home and nutritious food options have been prepared and are planned for release in the next quarter.
